Domisphere Web Content Management Overview
Domisphere is a web content management system for the setup and maintenance of dynamic internet/intranet and extranet sites based on the leading groupware system Lotus Domino/Notes.
Domisphere splits web site content from design, which means users need only focus on business driven content, while look and feel plus technical features are managed by the system. Domisphere provides multilevel security rights and content authorisation workflow which can be dependant on the type of content to be published.
In addition to a traditional Lotus Domino web based development, Domisphere adds the following:
Less risk and shorter timescales than a traditional software development project. This is because Domisphere provides much of the standard intranet functionality.
The ability to split web site design from content and yet maintain control. This is because once a web site design has been agreed users add content to previously defined templates, which add design and 'resources', such as logos and images.
Design and content can be changed independently at any stage of the web site's maturity.
Control - authorisation is required before content is published and three levels of workflow are available.
Design is not limited by Domino, only by HTML the language of the web.
Integrated forms editor with workflow for collecting data, such as enquiries, from a web site.
Integrated search engine, extending Domino's search features.
User-friendly statistics, for example, to show who is accessing what kind of data at different times of the day.
Easy web site enhancement by non-Domino developers. Adding new templates to the site is relatively straightforward without the need for any special development skill or experience. There is no need for previous Domino development experience.
Sophisticated look and feel can be provided with HTML code generated using a standard software tool. Microsoft Front Page is an example of such a tool (there are many others), which is easy to use with skills readily obtainable via training, recruitment or an external source.
The ability to take advantage of web technology as it develops - new releases of Domisphere are currently being developed at a rate of four per year.
Integration with an optional ecommerce/eprocurment module.
Domisphere System Requirements:
Server - Lotus Domino 5.0.10 server platform (or higher)
Content editors/authorisers - Microsoft IE 5.5 (SP2) or higher or should be equipped with a Lotus Notes client version 5.0.10 above
Domisphere administrators - must have the Lotus Notes client version 5.0.10 or higher
